A Long and Distinguished
History
Waltons Sierra Chapel of Reno has been a trusted name in funeral
service for over 50 years. Originally established in 1951 by Fred
S. Kieper and H. Edgar Walton, the funeral home was purchased in 1959
by Edward B. McCaffery, Jr. of Reno.
Since 1959, Ed McCafferys vision of funeral service excellence
has led to his expansion into other communities in Nevada and California
through the construction and acquisition of new facilities. In 1986,
Mr. McCafferys daughter, Tammy Dermody joined with him to continue
this vision, creating what has come to be known as the Waltons
Family of Funeral Homes.Waltons Sierra Chapel of Reno
is located on its original sight at Second and Vine, having expanded
and remodeled many times through the years evolving into a warm and
comfortable home-like environment for our client families. The facility
provides families with a spacious chapel and private visitation rooms.
A large parking lot is conveniently located on the east of the building.
The entire staff at Waltons Sierra Chapel pride themselves in
helping families on a personalized and individual basis, creating
for each family a service and celebration of life that is unique to
their wants and needs. For over 50 years, we have helped thousands
of families through the most difficult times of need and have
done so with compassion, dignity and attention to detail. We do all
of this while being sensitive to the financial considerations of each
family. We can help each family with all of the elements in coordinating
a complete and meaningful tribute to their loved one, including flowers
and monuments. We are always available to help families at the time
of need or with advanced planning.
Continuing the Tradition of Service Excellence
Following decades of growth by building a reputation for providing
services of dignity and respect, Walton's Family of Funeral Homes now
operate twelve funeral facilities, a cemetery, five crematories and
mausoleums. These facilities serve the communities of Reno, Sparks,
Carson City and Minden, Nevada and Susanville, California.
Waltons Family of Funeral Homes remains independent and
family owned, with Tammy Dermody and Ed McCaffery overseeing daily
operations.
